By DeLane Baker January 22, 2021

For some people, workout clothes are a way of flaunting their style, but for some, it is a beloved possession that they’re obsessed with. If you love your gym wear, it can be hard to let it go. You continue to use it even if the logo is peeling away, and the edges are fraying. However, like everything else, your workout clothes have a lifespan beyond which their efficiency and comfort are greatly compromised. No matter how much you love your workout clothes, you got to get rid of them at some point in time.

Numerous signs can tell you that it’s time to replace your gym wear. Read this blog post to know what these signs are so that you can get yourself a new pair of gym clothes at the right time!

1.     Your Gym Clothes Have Holes

You’ll agree with us on one point – clothes with holes in them do not look cool. Even if the color of your workout clothes is still as bright as new or you feel comfortable in them, if they have holes in them, you really need to consider replacing your workout clothes right away. Holes in clothes eventually turn bigger, and it looks really bad! Therefore, the first sign on our list that indicates that it’s high time you replace your workout clothes is any visible tears or holes in them.

2.     Faded Color

One of the most obvious signs that it’s time to replace your workout clothes is when the color doesn’t remain as bright and vibrant it once was. While faded clothes don’t do much harm to your body or your performance, they just don’t look good. If your workout clothes have become faded, it’s best that you get yourself a new pair of gym wear. Trust us when we say, getting rid of your faded gym clothes can really boost your energy and motivation levels – the brighter the clothes, the brighter the mood!

3.     Bad Fitting

Your workout trousers and top might have felt like a perfect fit when you first bought them, which made them your favorite one to wear to the gym. However, over the period of time, clothes either shrink, or the fabric loses its firmness and starts to look baggy. If you’ve to constantly pull your pants up every few minutes and readjust your top, your workout clothes have proper gone bad. From being the perfect fit to becoming the wrong fit, your workout clothes have finally reached a point where you need to get rid of them.

One of the primary factors you need to consider when buying clothes for a workout is that they should fit you perfectly – not too tight, not too loose. If your existing workout gear has become either of the two, they’re no more the right clothes to wear to the gym! Head out to the mall and buy yourself a new pair of cool workout clothes!

4.     Unpleasant Smell

A time would come when your workout clothes will continue to give off an unpleasant smell, no matter how many times you wash them. Workout clothes become sweaty during the exercise sessions, and the gross sweaty smell coming from the clothes at that point is justifiable. However, if your clothes still smell bad after a wash, it’s a sign that your workout clothes have turned old. The smell of old clothes can make others feel uncomfortable. Your smelling sense may not be very good, but someone who’s working out beside you might sense the age of your clothes just by the smell!  It is best to replace your workout clothes every few months to save yourself from the embarrassment,

5.     Loss of Elasticity

The characteristic that makes any outfit suitable for gym use is the elasticity. The more elastic your workout clothes are, the more comfortable you will feel in them while working out. Also, elastic clothes make it possible for you to achieve challenging poses with greater ease and comfort. It is the reason why it is recommended that every time you go to buy a pair of workout clothes, try stretching in them a bit to evaluate how elastic they are.

However, one of the biggest signs that tell that it’s time to replace your workout clothes is the loss of elasticity. When your gym clothes lose their elasticity, it not only makes working out more challenging, but it can also cause rashes on your body. The resistance between your skin and the fabric of your gym wear increases as a result of which the fabric rubs against the skin more often that can result in severe irritation and rashes. If that’s the case with you, you know what you got to do!

6.     The Straps of Your Sports Bra Keeping Falling Off the Shoulders

A sports bra is one of the most important components of your workout clothes. A sports bra has to be the perfect fit to make you feel comfortable. However, if the straps of your sports bra keep sliding off your shoulders or the band on your sports bra slides around every time you raise your hands, your sports bra isn’t really serving its purpose well. It is a sign that it has lost its elasticity and firmness, and it’s high time that you get yourself a new one.

Workout clothes have a significant impact on your motivation to work out and your performance. To make sure that you’re getting the most out of every workout session, you got to be dressed in the best and most efficient workout clothes. If you haven’t gone shopping for workout clothes for a while, it’s high time that you hit the stores and get yourself a new pair of super cool and comfy workout clothes!
